WELCOME TO FIT CITY
  Let's start out by keeping it simple and to the point. Your physical body functions best when it gets fed properly (the right type of fuel in the right amount), has a habit of regular physical activity (body movement) and maintains a state of energy balance -(calories in versus calories expended).

FitCity was developed to get the Austin community physically fit, energetic and healthier. This program has the support and endorsement of your physician through the Travis County Medical Society and your government leaders -the mayor, city council and county commissioners. They are committed to having a healthier community. The goal is to help you develop good nutrition and body movement as a habit. The reward is a healthier and more energized you.

To help you in succeeding on this road to change, to enhance your motivational skills and lower your resistance to changing FitCity has developed a program based on the "Science of Change." Proven research studies have helped us understand what makes someone move from Can I do it? to I can do it!

Changing to habits of good health is a dynamic process. Change occurs through stages.  Our goal is to help facilitate this process and to be your partner. We realize that there will be barriers on the road but with support your motivation will overcome your resistance and you can reach your goal of "Energy Balance."

Through a series of simple assessment questionnaires we can determine where you are in the process of change regarding physical fitness. We will take the information and then help you develop a safe, personalized plan that can help you set your own short and long-term goals. We will give you the tools and the understanding to truly get you moving. We are here to fully support and energize you and above all to put you in control.

  To evaluate your readiness to participate in a physical activity or movement program a Physical Activity Assessment Profile will help determine the most appropriate recommendation to move you to becoming a regularly active and fit individual.

The initial assessments include a number of profiles. Please review the information addressing each assessment and the specifics on how to answer the questions.

Upon completion you will have the opportunity to review in both summary format and a more detailed format your results. 

These results will be coupled with specific recommendations that will move you toward the next steps in the change process towards action.
